Discovery 2400 Series from GE is a family of multi-function encoders with a capacity of up to 24 video channels. They combine video capture, storage, encoding, and content analysis in a single, easy-to-configure unit that offers a high degree of connectivity over an Ethernet or IP-based network. These encoders are part of the VisioWave IVP platform, which is a cohesive family of precision-engineered equipment designed to help protect people, property, and critical infrastructure.

This family of encoders represents a scalable network video solution that grows to accommodate a wide range of high-end surveillance needs. Up to eight hard drive bays and four expansion slots support features such as large-capacity video recording, PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) control for connected cameras, and input/output connectivity for ancillary equipment such as motion sensors.

Each Discovery 2400i and 2400Si video port supports third-party integrated content analysis, also known as analytics - without the need for additional dedicated hardware. Content analysis improves program efficiency and reduces labor costs by automatically detecting specific human behavior and events, resulting in fewer operators being required to monitor a larger number of surveillance points. Third-party applications leverage the power of content analysis for a wide range of applications. Discovery Series encoders also feature embedded content analysis from GE. These standard analytics include Camera Maintenance and Activity Detection.
